Ok, i must admit- I know Kendra (and daphne is her part-time model) but even if i didn’t, i would adore and feature her work. I just LOVE what she makes- and I know you will too.
I have never, ever (ever) been excited about headbands for babies until her daisy doo collection- now daphne wears one of her headbands almost daily and seriously, i want to steal them for myself. [bonus: they fit adults too!] I even asked Kendra to make some custom clips for me and I love them- a camera for my photo-loving friend Rebecca (feature coming soon!
a VW bus for me and several of the birds from our wedding invites too.
I interviewed Kendra [of st. anthony, idaho] about her creations and here is what she said:
what do you create? I make fun creations from felt including flower headbands, clips, fabric covered earrings, fabric covered bobby pins, baby shoes, and children’s skirts!
where do you sell it? This summer I’ve been selling at a local farmers market in Rexburg, Idaho. I also just started an etsy shop! www.daisydoo.etsy.com I also have a blog www.daisydoodaisydoo.blogspot.com
what is your creative process like? I usually sketch down my ideas, then make a pattern and cut out the felt. If I’m taking a custom order I’ll make a pattern with the pictures they send me.
what inspires you? Nature most of my clips are flowers, trees, and animals. I’m also heavily inspired by children. I love to see their faces at my booth when they get something new!
do you have any goals for your business? I love the idea of being able to work from home. It’s ideal right now to have an online store and to be selling at farmers markets. I hope to expand my etsy shop into a website.
please pick one favorite: band, tv show, movie, website and etsy seller.
Saosin, Greys, any Tim Burton film, etsy (honestly I’m on there any chance I get), HidenSeek I bought a print called “My Captain” and I adore it!
[my own imput]- another great thing about Kendra is that everything is incredibly affordable. Headbands for $5, clips for $3 and they come in a cute package, ready for a gift.
I don’t think I can adequately express how important it is to me to support the handmade cause. Obviously, it is how Nic and I support ourselves, but to me- it’s so much more than that. It really is an opportunity to damn the man PLUS handmade stuff is WAY more awesome. Quality, a sense of uniqueness, great prices, friendly people, pride in their craft, recycling/up-cycling, not going to wal-mart… all good things, right? Because of this, I’ll be featuring Etsy sellers frequently. I know etsy isn’t the only option- but i really think it’s the easiest way to find and buy great handmade items. So do what you can- go to local markets, shop etsy and give big chains the middle finger. ♥ kirsteneva.

Just purchased some of these adorable hair clips at the Rexburg farmers market! I can’t wait to give them to a friend for her baby shower. So cute and fun.
